The photo archive of Uliano Lucas’ works is going to be digitalized. To request images or to carry out a iconographic research you may write to: archivio@ulianolucas.it.
The archive consists in over 100,000 black and white negatives and 5,000 color photos on the social history of Italy from the 60s to date (with a predominance in pictures taken in the North of the country) and about 100,000 negatives and 10,000 slides taken in Europe, Africa, Middle and Far East since the 70s.
The archive is organized in the following way:

Italy

  • The real social status of the Country since the early 60s to ’67 (industrialization and motorization, the new consumption, strikes, demonstrations, migration etc.)
  • Art and Communication in the 60s and 70s (painters, graphic designers, architects etc.)
  • The youth (the myth of the rock, the first pipers, the first bands and cabaret)
  • The birth of the student movement as well as anti-authoritarian and pacifist movements
  • The birth of the movement for civil rights (abortion, divorce, feminism)
  • The passwords of the various movements, dissent and creativity in graffiti and murals
  • The psychiatric matter from the closure of mental hospitals to today
  • The movements and organizations of the new left political wing (Democrazia Proletaria, Potere Operaio, Fourth International, Autonomia Operaia, Avanguardia Operaia)

  • The realities of the South of Italy between the old and the new (the agricultural environment, the mechanization of agriculture and industrialization, urban areas and the change of custom)

  • Foreign immigration, from its beginning in the early 70’s to its explosion in the last two decades (marginalization, work and integration)
